hey everyone i was sitting here thinking about how in the past year half of the kids that go to my school have suddenlly become "hardcore punks" and out of those newbie punks 2/3 of them were major "preps" the year before...i mean what the hell theyv'e turned from (boy bands, rap music, abercrombie and fitch, the gap) into (liberty spikes, skulls, safety pins, and bands like the sex pistols or the descendents{actually most of them say good charellotte is their favorite band})...and each of them say there "rebels without a cause" HAHA....i dont care if someone would rather listen to good charollette rather then the vandals...as long as they dont act like someone there not....the punk scene is used for people like them to get attention or to become more popular thats the only thing that pisses me off...rather then getting into this type of music and the whole way of life becuase they enjoy it and truly want to be part of the lifestyle they do it becuase these days "everybodys doing it"....if "everybody" got a tatto on there forehead that said loser on it but someone said it was really cool then they would get the tatto too becuase thats the only way they know how to survive in this judgemental world......so what do you guys think is the whole punk scene becoming a trend?

well what i think is (and i have said this before somewhere) that punk is an attitude and a type of music but all of a sudden theres this whole "trend" but like any other trend it will die (and i dont mean the music) and everything will hopefully be back to normal....

hahaha. punk a trend? yeah right... punks dead. face it, whatever stereotype punk is today - it's not what it used to be. whats so shocking about GC... or Avril... or Rancid... or the Misfits... or the Sex Pistols? nothing... it's the same thing. American "punks" lost the punk spirit. Take a look at other countries, and THEIR punks!? Right now I'm in russia and here it's a hell of an insult to be a punk... because here some punks can't afford leather jackets or spikes of hair gel or anything that is easy to get in the US... they dress in WHATEVER they can find.. whatever they can make... basically a stuggle to survive - nothing to do with music... or fashion... or beliefs. and those who can afford all that dont give a rats ass... they look at america and see how typical it is to wear striped socks, army boots, and buttons... same old some old. literally.... i think punk has died in the US - the majority. :cry:

punk is a label. the label killed the spirit. the very spirit that was anti-label.

if you say punks dead then why are you on this board you ******* commie your punk may be dead but mine isnt i have fun listining to punk rock i also have fun getting into trouble, smoking, drinking and doin whatever the **** i want. ONLY TRENDS DIE YOU IGNORANT BASTARD!
and punk my friend is not a trend. it is a way of life. it is gaining independance, its rebelling against political and social issues, its getting an adrenaline rush when you listen to your favorite record. I believe that punk is a spirit. how can spirits die? UP THE PUNX!

punk rock is slowly dieing, theyre still are good punk bands out there but yea, most of the "punks" i see are just preps that think theyre studded betls and rancid n nofx patches make them punk....

preps dont even know who the f*** nofx or rancid is and they call themselves punk because they think they are because they just got the latest issue of teen beat or whatever the h*** its called and it says that PUNK IS IN!! oh oka preps go back to limited too and abercrombie and leave hot topic to us..

THEY SEE GC, AVRIL, AND BLINK IN THEIR MAG'S AND THEY TRY TO DRESS LIKE THEM

GIVE IT A YEAR OR TWO AND THE TREND WILL ALL BE OVER
