Punk a trend...only in some percpectives, but in mine i say no...clothes don't make a person who they are...they're music, ideas, and choices in life do.

the kids on the board spend too much time trying to decide who is punk and who isnt, as well as trying to define it. this whole notion of being a punk is just bullshit. i listen to punk rock, as well as many other types of music, have radical political and social views, go to many shows, drink til i cant see straight as well as pump my body full of most any other drug i have money to buy, and wear tattered clothing. does this make me a punk? **** no. i am who i am and thats all there is to it. anyone who needs a music scene to cling to as their identity is just as generic as anyone else. this country is called the melting pot for a reason kids. we are all influenced by the same forces(aka the mass media). only when you realize and accept this can you ever begin to develop some sort of genuine identity that anyone will ever respect you for. grow the hell up and quit trying to label everything to make yourself feel superior, because in the end your just gonna end up just like everyone else wasting your life away working 9-5 to fill your home with worthless shit that no one needs, but makes you feel better about your shitty life and how youve wasted it. and i guarantee that no one with half a brain gives a damn about something as petty as what music you listen to or what clothes you wear or what subculture you conform to. all i wanted to do was check out some messages boards to find some new music, and i see all this stupid high school shits using punk rock as a way to fit in, while at the same time desecrating something i love so dearly. so if anyone would care to talk about some great bands i may or may not have heard, new or old, i would love to join you.

I know this is an old thread but oh well...

Punk isn't dieing. No way. You know if you're a punk. It's all the in attitude. The music is not what defines you. It's just something that punks can use to get their views across. You don't have to dress in a certain way to be a punk. Why won't people understand that? And if punk music is changing, it doesn't mean the attitude is "dieing". Why are people so uneducated?

Thank you!

Punk isn't dieing! The only thing that is happening is preps making this little steriotype of what "punks" look like, and they dress like that. Then, their little prep friends do the same. Then the wannabe preps do the same. And the people who were origionally "punk" are considered "poseurs." We all know its gonna happen. You know what? So ignore them when they say, "Pink converse? Those are soooo hotttttttt!!!!!!!"

If you think or know you are punk, keep thinking that. Just ignore the people who arn't, ok?
