I was born Punk. I was '70s punk rocker from Los Angeles in my past life. I honestly do think this.

I have friends who were punks in the '70s and this is what they have told me. Most punks did not have mohawks back then. Most punks did not even wear leather jackets back then. Punk truly was about individuality. There was a real anything goes attitude when it came to clothes because the Punk Uniform was not set yet. This is what I believe Punk should be about. Clothes should not matter. It should be about what's inside you and what your beliefs are, and based on that, I have been a punk my whole life, even though I haven't listened to the music my whole life. This is because for as far back as I can remember I have been a critical thinker. I did not always do what I was told when I was a child, and I asked lots of questions. I have also always wanted to be different from everyone else. When I was 15, I discovered Punk, and it was like the missing jigsaw puzzle piece which I had always been searching for to make my life complete. 9 years later and Punk is still a very important part of my life. It has helped shape my identity and made me the person who I am. Do I need to prove to other people that I am punk by having a mohawk and wearing combat boots? No. I feel no need to prove my "punkness" to others. The only person who I am trying to impress is myself. I identify with the anything goes attitude of '70s punk, and am able to have my own style, which has definitely been influenced by Punk, but my clothes aren't exactly part of the Punk Uniform, which I think is a very good thing.

Fukkin shiobi, I wish I was ever here while you've been tossin em back. I can really appreciate good drunkin Quid Pro Quo (sp?).

Oh, and thanks to the newbie for pointing out the valuable lesson of having "to act like a punk to be a punk". THAT'S WHATS BEEN MISSING!!
I think I'll be punk soon now guys -

The post I made is a little lame. I don't know what I mean by it... So just ignore it.

The person that started this thread is stupid.

Punk isn't just about image. I know I'm repating probably what a load of other people have said but I don't care.

Anyone who can walk up to someone and declare "I'm such a punk" definately is not, that is a guarantee made by many people. Even though you may be involved in the punk scene, you arent automatically a punk. Punk music is awesome, and just because you like it or dont like it, people shoulldnt have the right to judge you.
Punk is not something that you wake up one morning and say you will be, its something that you just...do :P

On another note: If there actually was anarchy, the world world be so fuked up.. Just think about it. Be glad that we do have some structure to society, even if you wanna rebel smoetimes.

Anyways, I know nonw of that shit makes sense...but whatever, does anything ever make sense?

My opinion is taht calling yourself punk is not punk because a punk would not care if they were punk or not.
