helplessole kinda explained it fairly well, especially about not hating something because someone else does. One example could be this apparent punk idea of hating big corporate businesses. Now, don't get me wrong, I hate many of these businesses and I in no way support there way of ******* us over by ripping us off...but...
You have to remember that if we all sit here saying "Every corporate business is shit and we should hate them all" its a bit hypocritical considering that we post on the internet using Microsoft's software with IBM computers. Clearly if we hated them that much we wouldn't come on here. Ask yourself, What car do I drive? What bank do I go with? All of these things are provided to us by big corporate businesses.
The best way round that is, if you feel like it, avoid the big businnesses AS BEST AS POSSIBLE. You can't go through life avoiding and hating every major business forever because that is not possible.
If you've looked everywhere for a CD by your fav band, but only that big shitty fat-cat business on the corner has it, what are you gonna do? Leave it or buy it? Buy it, as its more of an insult and an embarrassment to them than it is to you. If they are stupid enough to sell something that is aimed at hating their guts then its all the more worse for them.
I will openly admit to buying something from a Virgin Megastore only a few weeks ago. The fact is it was a grindcore CD by Napalm Death (their first album "Scum") which on the front cover clearly shows big name labels like IBM, McDonalds, Coca Cola etc intermixed with skulls and bones. To me, its embarrassing selling something intent on hating you.
Well, thats just something I thought may have a connection to this topic anyway. |

You could've ordered that directly online from their website. You make decisions everyday that effect big business. Each one of us individually with every decision we make is what changes the world. Buying that CD in Virgin Megastore was a decision you made to keep them in business - You could've found it online.
Not to knock you, man I read your post and understand what you are trying to say - but I am hell bent on leaving all my money out of their pockets and putting into the pockets of the concious citizen, the fledgling 'mom and pop' stores and directly to the bands themselves - I support my favorite bands by going to their shows; that's the only way they really make money - they don't make shit when you buy a CD in a store.... it all goes to the record company, minus 1/2% that the artists receive.
Fukk Mobil/Exxon oil, fukk Walmart, fukk Tower Records, Fukk General Electric, fukk hot topic, fukk mcdonalds and burger king - fukk all the big named grocery stores for their illegal profit sharing bullshite! and fukk thos who will continue to de-educate themselves daily by watching NBC, ABC and CBS news and reading the communist rag papers like NY & LA Times.
Do your own research! Read books by great men and women-stop buying stuff! |

I do normally buy all my music off the net. I use things like Ebay, Splashdvd, Amazon etc its just for some reason I went into a Virgin Megastore and bought it. You're right, I should've thought but I did realise afterwards what I'd done and that I could've bought it off the net but we all make mistakes I guess.
I forgot to mention this but it was the first time in a very very very long time that I bought something from a shop like that because they ***** rip us off with prices that are just too stupid. One example being an average DVD costing £15-18 ($25-30) from them - Fuk off am I paying that, I'll go to SplashDVD on the net and get it for £10 (with free postage too).
The thing is, its Ironic because only a few hours after I posted the bit about buying a CD from a big business, I went onto Amazon (which really, in someways, is just as bad as Virgin) and I found on their site The Exploited - Horror Epics CD which has been deleted. Now I bought it BUT it wasn't actually Amazon who were selling it. It was a user who had registered on their to sell stuff from his internet shop.
Again, like I said about avoiding these corporate businesses, it can be unavoidable. Take my situation for example. Now I do own a car. Nothing fancy, nothing new, nothing expensive, just a plain ordinary cheap car. Now first of all I have to buy petrol to get it to move. Where do I get that from? I'm hardly going to sell my car off just because the station down the road is a BP station. By doing that, all it shows is that I'm giving into the rich bastard who owns the BP corporation and letting him win. Why should I sell my car because of him? Then the car needs insurance. Where do I get that from?
I can ask myself many other questions like:
Where do I get my food from? And what brands do I buy?
Who do I get my eletricity, gas and phone line supplied from?
Who made the stereo system I play my CDs on and the TV I watch?
If I were a smoker, what brand cigarettes would I buy?
Many of these things are hard to get from a small-time supplier but all you can do is avoid the biggest fukkers as best as possible. I need the electricity and gas to keep me warm and I need the food otherwise I'll die. |

| I mean don't get me wrong, I know how to deal with the big businesses. I'm not some little, dumb, wanna-be shithead who needs instructing or anything like that. I was just raising a point about certain areas of life that these fat-cats control completely. :) 8) |

You got the point (not the emocons - fukk those stupid things!) I mean the petrol and food - thing. I was just trying to offer some examples of alternatives to most things. Yes we must fill our cars and there isn't anything we can do about that - but some of the companies that offer petrol dont have a damn thing to do with what is going on in Iraq - I would use them - just an opinion, I didn't take you for a shithead.

| Who gives a shit about big businesses? I mean, if they bother you that much, then just ignore them as much as possible. I mean, theres really nothing you can do about them, so why fight a losing battle? Just avoid them and then when they come around, say "**** you, you suck" and that be that right? |
