sex pistols = overrated
they werent that great a band, they werent even the first punk band ... they just seem to have gotten the most recognition
sid vicious = overrated
sid vicious was a dumb cunt who couldnt play his bass and really wasnt good for much except getting fuc ked up on drugs and stabbing his girlfriend to death ... its a shame he has become the quintincential figure of punk because he really was nothing special

[...] The Toy Dolls are a bit shit really (well "annoying" is a more suitable word). That song "I got asthma" is the kind of song you'd listen to if you couldn't hear properly and didn't know what the ***** hell your listening to.[...]

I saw The Toy Dolls live last saturday and it was the best show i've ever seen!!

Alot of the Sex pistols bashing and overly praising is really stupid. Firstly yes they didnt fully create the movement. But had alot well almost most of the idea's that helped, created and spread punk. Firstly alot of their idea's talked about nihilism, "no future", the hate towards the "grown ups", the bullshit and hypocricy in the disco and hippy cultures and maggie thacher straight- conservative people, the music industry at that time, "the dont care" attitude, . Now this had been amazing and had never been done before and was banned all over the place. It also added defintion to the punk movement. Let's not forget pogoing which sid started by accident ahah. And the unique looks they created on top of that attitude. Yes they were used up, and selling alot due to the fact they had a manager, and label that was letting them, and they didnt care! to an extent. But they used it to their advantage and still had the attitude . Sooner or later it just couldent work out because of the fact they were becoming part of the machine it started turning into a fad, sid was an addict and it didnt fit with the times. But the spirit of what they partially started, the attitude will still live on. Most of you guys would say omfg sid looks soo cool he's a god the sex pistols are the biggest punx, or the sex pistols had average shitty music and they were only interested in selling t-shirts. But you guys should look beyond.. Agian there were also other bands that are underlooked, and overlook, that were great and also helped start punk rock.

I'm not going to mention any bands i cant stand but as far as punk "genres" go i guess they would be:

Most Crust, alot of peace-punk, D-beat, emo, screamo, pop-punk, fake-ass mtv punk, new wave, metalcore( i dunno), most hXc, most late 80's youth-crew straight edge-hardcore stuff, cheezy-glam-fake-street punk like total chaos and some punkcore bands.

All the scenesters, idoits, and new-age fake-mall or 5- minute-computer made punks that follow them of today..

Who dosen't......

I dont. I'm not as close minded as most people on this forum. I see many of you have a "its not punk so i wont listen to it" attitude and you follow way too many rules. Is that really what punk is about?

I have a "if it's crap I won't listen to it attitude". It's slightly different.
