I'm not sure if I've posted this thread around here before, but fµck it, it has been a while.

Many of you here have probably at least heard of the band NOFX. They're a punk rock band that have been very popular despite their underground preferences and have been considered essential listening for punk music, from the likes of their releases such as Punk In Drublic or Pump Up the Valuum. Of course, really with enough observation it's obvious they stupified elements of Bad Religion and Green Day and then tinged it up with ska.

This is the crazy part, though: NOFX used to be an ass-kicking hardcore punk/metal hybrid band heavily influenced by the likes of bands such as RKL, Rudimentary Peni, and even Black Sabbath! Snotty vocals, burning riffs, whirling solos, pulse-pounding drums, raw style, thrashy attitude and dorky lyrics! No El Hefe, no ska, no whining, not even any poppy melodies, just straight-up thrash punk.

To hear an example of this excellent sound, check out their album titled Maximum Rocknroll. It's a CD re-issue that slaps together 2 different 7"es they did back in the 80's on a record label by the name of Mystic (the same record label that recorded all sorts of other thrash bands such as RKL, Dr. Know, Aggression, etc). These 7"s are out of print, but if you keep an eye out on eBay you might manage to find someone willing to sell one of these records (named The Album and So What If We're On Mystic?).

Below is the link to Maximum Rocknroll. Also, ignore any negative reviews it gets: They're only by fanboys of the newer NOFX, so don't worry.

Maximum Rocknroll was your first hardcore album?

Anywhat, their shit on Mystic was great. Why they turned into another Epitaph clone band is beyond me.

Most of their albums are pretty tight, Punk in Drublic, White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean and So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes are all classics

yeah, nofx was pretty much thrash metal back in the day. that's my favorite shit from them....ribbed, s&m airlines, liberal animation....killer guitar riffs. i think that el hefe was the downfall of the band.
