Stratattack or OWWWDAATUNE....on my Swamp Ash Tele I have had this same problem for awhile...I keep breaking my G string....when it was set up by ROY I told him and he looked around for burs or anything that would help to cut or put extra strain on the string....Could it be as simple as I AM BENDING IT WAY TO MUCH TO OFTEN???? any ideas? I was gonna put on the graphite saddles but it really doesn;t make sense on a TELE since there is no tremelo bar...I'm a bit confused and baffled why this string ONLY continues to break. BTW I use DH 10's on this guitar....thanks

welllllllll...just a second...gimme some time here to figure out which string you mean....hhmmmmm...skinny string is 1st so its an E string..2nd is the A-nope, its the B string-i'm starting to get this figured out now...hold on..Easter Bunny Gets Drunk At Easter...aahhhaaaaaaaa...okay james--i got it now..you're breaking the 3rd string ???!!!-- -lol-
-really tho..normally it would be the result of a burr snagging the string & wearing it down till it broke -usually in the middle of your best song at the most important gig of your life !!--but if Roy didn't find anything like that, we gotta rule out the guitar as the culprit !!
--where does the string break at?? -also..does it break when you are playing the same note all the time ?? ( in other words,at the 5th fret/9th fret etc.)- i gotta ask ya man..is that the only string you bend??-how far are you bending it?? usually a bend on the G string doesn't go past a full step-step & 1/2--do you bend the high E + B as far??--its unusual to break that string with a bend..the 1st two skinny ones generally go on me--
-get back to me with those answers bubba
-it may sound strange voodoo-but 1st do me a favor & put some fender 9's on that baby & give it as hard a workout as you have been with the 10's & let me know what happens....or...in my opinion, use these strings... www.webstrings.com --for my electrics i use the XLIGHT .009-.0115-.016-.024-.032-.042 MEMPHIS ELECTRIC NICKEL ROUND WOUND...as you know, i play mostly blues & early r&r stuff & i bend the hell owwda these strings & since i've switched to these i've only broken 1 high E string!! they're wonderful..i also put them on my acoustics as well ( i prefer the San Diego acoustic 12-53's)---get back here with whatever info you can..we'll figure this out !!

Terry...I use a heavey to extra heavey so I don;t have to beat on the strings...My rythms are smoother and leads are more like 5-8 note take off's ....similar to like a Willie Dixon sound, I do bend the hell out of it and usually further than it should....it ususally breaks between the 9-12 frets and yes it ususally is the same note and while bending it,no this is not the only bender, I try to shake and bend em all if possible for that psychobilly,Vibrato or old school tremelo sound. I'll put a set of 9's on and get back to ya.....thanks....BTW I looked at the barrell and there are no burs I can see or feel.
