"The majority of people that do it these days are posers. I saw this one kid with a blue mohawk......walking down the street......WITH HIS PARENTS.......yes, he's so ******* hardcore. These are the people destroying the image. ""

What image ? Since what does hardcore have to do with getting a mohawk. If you saw videos from american hardcore back in the early 80's FEW people had mohawks or liberty spikes. And aside of that, the look which was more like the emilo the lead character from "repo man" never copywrighted the scene , behavior, or attitude.

""What image is there to destroy? Isn't hardcore about not caring about if people think your a goof? HOw do you destroy that? ohh, wait, now i remember. Hardcore is about how cool you look when you hardcore dance. WHat kind of hair cut you have, how many tattoos, etc. Hardcore is about competition. "

Who said feeling having a good time, wearing what you like , feeling confortable, and natural is competetion. All that liberal bullshit about punk meaning anything thats possible is just garbage. How old are you? Thats all i have to say.. opps not a new question for 97% percent of people here. All i have to say is that too much importance is up for the wrong facts and making it seem like a religon.

""Hardcore is about living on the edge of society. Hardcore is about being yourself and loving it....pissing as many people off as you can. Hanging with your parents is not hardcore. Hanging with your parents is what rich little white boys from the upper suburbs do because they're afraid of anyone who is not white. It's not the fact that he was with his parents, but more the image he was trying to give off, even though he was with his parents."

How would you know? Only 15 year old pseudo-punk upper-middle class kids bitch about rich kids more than anything, and pretend to be stingy and poor. How can you assume anything just because some guy had a blue hawk and was walking with older people perhaps his parents.

You confuse hardcore with street punk and imaginary reactionary defintions of it. All of the things you said about "hardcore" can be appiled to anything.

Hardcore is about being a high school dropout, drinking all day, goin to/playing in shows every night. It's about pissing off people simply by standing in their presence. It's about having no authority. Parents = Authority.....hanging out with your parents and trying to be a hardcore punk are the antithesis of eachother.

Your confusing Genres its really simple.. its not 1981 anymore , hardcore now means crossover jock music that is about dealing with self-esteem, sXe, etc... and such , its bordering metal and has nothing to do with what your talking about.

Okay you are either talking about general punk to(of many years of experince) you or you are watching too many movies, and catching on to others defintions.

It totally destroys the image. First one kid who thinks he is punk will do it, then before you know it there will be no point in being punk at all.

You can always tell the hard as nails, tuff real punks from the fashion-phase-trendy poseurs.

And ya we are all waiting till this shit becomes a threat again, and the media disbands it. Some of us try harder.
