I don't label myself as punk or anything like that. Punk is what you make it to be. But, I fit the description of the "stereotypical" punk. So, punk it is.

You are all posers. Speak to some true punks sometime, eh?

Me, I fall under neither category because I am not a Punk, and I don't pretend to be one either.

I am neither, as well. I know for certain, however, that you are all almost certainly poseers. True members of any group do not require others to affirm for them that they belong to that group.

Man, stupidy seems quite superfluous on the Internet these days. You sit and bicker without any thesis or support. Blatant opinions galore!

To the discussion, though, I will say this: I am neither punk nor poser. I listen to it, but I think dressing "to fit a part" is silly and unneeded. Especially when I see about ten people wearing the same thing per day. Originality is good thing, ja? I'm not punk, though, mainly because I disagree with the ideals. Note that I disagree with some/most of them because of the way they're presented.

Yeah-- well-- one might also paint an orange red and call it an apple but that doesn't make it so.

Hair dye, leathers and chains, tattoos, piercings, your Green Day t shirt you bought at Dillards in the ******* shopping mall, bondagewear. These are not items that make you a punk. If you take all of that shit away are you still a punk, or are you someone else? I still am.

I suppose that UMB bank, Mastercard, Budweiser, and M-*******-T-V are not a part of the machine a bunch of people claim to be raging against. How in the hell did that happen?

Not all music that sounds like punk rock is punk rock and as a parallel not everyone who tries to look like a punk is a punk.

Yes, the ideals and the way they are presented nowadays are a total bastardization of what they started as. We are agreed there.

If you think that putting on a certain jacket or put a certain amount of crap on your hair and think that these are the things that define intelligent rebellion you are missing the point entirely. Punk rock is supposed to be a way of digging deeper and learning to think for youself within what you consider to be moral. It's a way for people who are disenfranchised to find and help each other. Once the football team at the high school starts calling themselves punk rock because they wear bondage belts like those cool guys on MTV all of that is lost. The outcasts are once again outcast.

Just my humble opinion.
