I just produced an album for a punk band in Southern California. The guitar player wanted his amp up REAL loud so he got constant feedback. After I finished the mix, they liked it except they wanted me to edit out all the feedback, which incidentally happened if he even stopped playing for a split second.

So I guess the moral is, think about what you're doing when your recording. Just because it seems "hardcore", it doesn't always come out the same in a recording.

Just my two cents.

As an artist we sometimes thimk WE know it all...and DO NOT want our songs touched in any shape or form. I wasted lots of producers time and money with all my ideas of how I thought we should sound...bottom line is...
That guy who sits behind that board is as talented and takes his craft as seriously as we take our songs/lyrics. When you do get in a studio take some time to feel each other out.....maybe have a few beers and talk for a few hours before recording...bounce ideas off each other....bring him a tape or CD to preview..and come up with perfection. It sometimes pays off to have a guy who works with the band all the time to help with your sound when using an "in house" producer,
rather than having 5 band members screaming at this guy with 100 different ideas. It is YOUR money your spending...so get the best you can for the least amount of cash and hassle's. Remember if your planning on sending this to a club or record company...it may be your only shot...so shoot STRAIGHT !!!
